Lawrence O’Donnell on Tuesday broke down how “America has turned against” Donald Trump, including former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who has expressed his regrets for helping the president return to the White House. (Watch the MS NOW host’s monologue below.)

“People who have been against Donald Trump every day of his political career are going to have to get used to this,” said O’Donnell of Carlson’s recent confession that he’ll be “tormented” by his Trump support for a “long time.”

“What is important about Tucker Carlson’s switch of public allegiance away from Donald Trump is that it is very, very bad for Donald Trump. And it represents millions and millions of Trump supporters turning against Donald Trump in polling now.”

Carlson’s apology for “misleading” people on Trump arrives as the president’s approval rating has hit a dismal 33% in a new poll from The Associated Press.

The poll found that a strong majority of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of the Iran war (67%), the economy (70%) and the cost of living (76%).

Later in his monologue, O’Donnell noted that while Carlson publicly supported Trump when he had the highest-rated show on Fox News, he “privately hated” the president at the same time, as revealed in texts exposed in Dominion Voting Systems’ lawsuit against the network.

But by the time of the 2024 campaign, Carlson “very happily” backed the president, the MS NOW host added.

“And so we have no idea how long Tucker Carlson’s current feud with Donald Trump will continue,” he said.

“But the Trump voters who are now turning against Donald Trump won’t be as easy for Donald Trump and Republicans to win back as Tucker Carlson might turn out to be.”
