Triumph the Insult Comic Dog goaded Secretary of State Marco Rubio into playfully punching him on the red carpet at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner this weekend, in footage filmed before the event was disrupted by a shooting.

The “Daily Show” puppet, aka Robert Smigel, had mocked top Trump allies, including reality TV personality-turned-Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, when he spotted Rubio and tried to catch his attention.

“Oh, this dog. This dog is a pain in the ass,” Rubio said, lightheartedly, in the segment that “The Daily Show” aired on Tuesday night.

“Marco. Come on, you can do this,” Triumph replied, urging Rubio to come over and answer a question.

Triumph then switched to a high-pitched voice to mockingly ask the Trump Cabinet member: “What’s the matter, Mr. Secretary? Afraid of a little dog?”

Rubio took the bait, approached — and playfully jabbed the puppet.

Triumph later told Rubio: “I’m down on my luck, Marco. Please. Just one question. Just tell me which country you’re attacking next. I’m trying to win some money on Polymarket. I’m trying to win some money on Polymarket, man. Just give me a wink if it’s Kazakhstan.”

Rubio replied, “It’s illegal for dogs to gamble.”
