How many times do we have to tell doctors to LISTEN TO WOMEN?!?!

Note: This post contains mentions of eating disorders, pregnancy loss, and sexual assault.

"Lol, I'm the kind of patient that appreciates that kinda humor. I was at the doctor for some concerns about my breasts, and she came in like, 'What's wrong with your titties!?' 🤣"—u/bitsy88

"My sister's got down there and went 'Oh!' And then never expanded or clarified on that. She still has no idea what the oh was for or about. Smear was normal, so 🤷."—u/likeafuckingninja

"Hah! This is amazing. Meanwhile, my husband has had not one but TWO doctors go to undo his pants FOR HIM. Every time he’s like, 'No, no, I got it.' This would be much better."—u/hoopharder

"Normally, you have to pay extra for that."—u/chrispar

Me: Honestly, I don't actually know what that is. I know the word, but I don't know what it feels like.

Doctor: If you don't know what it is, then you don't have it.

Me: I don't know what cancer actually is. Does that mean I'll never have it?

Ended up having a yelling match about it and how stupid this prick was. I got my referral and stormed out without paying."—u/BobbiePinns

"Help me understand. Isn't that good?"—u/Technical_Radish_232

"People (like myself) with an ED are hyper-focused on our weight and almost always have body dysmorphia. The point of recovery is to change your perception of yourself and start eating a normal, healthy diet again. For a doctor to then tell them they’ll help them lose weight not only undoes everything they just worked so hard to recover from, but also implies that they should lose weight."—u/bubble-pop-electric

"I was told something similar when I went in with suspicions of having endometriosis. I had a hysterectomy last year, and what do you know—I had endometriosis. Having a child didn’t help. It made it worse." —u/TampontheBludThirsty

"It does not matter why you had an abortion (I am so sorry you were SA’d). You are justified to get an abortion if you don’t want to be pregnant and have a child, Period. Fuck that lady. I hope you changed providers."—u/Tall_Cauliflower850

"I did! I went with another woman in the same office and have been with her for almost 30 years. Thankfully, the bitch left that office shortly after my experience with her."—u/Capital_Meal_5516

"I feel like that should be grounds for going to the board on the first doctor... That’s not just unprofessional; that is a life-threatening mistake."—u/ZeAlien07

"I thought that after my cancer surgery. Pulled the progress note from the visit to see if he documented it, but he left that out."—u/PrecisePMNY

"Leave out the part that could get your doctorate rescinded, how incredibly convenient 🙄."—u/SomethingWetAndMoist

"I cannot even imagine how you could have responded to that at the time. "Oh, that's crazy," is all I would be able to muster. Hope it hasn't messed with you too badly, and given you further anxiety about doing a doctor 🫂."—u/doesnthavearedditacc

"I went quiet. I didn't say anything. I was holding my mother's MRI report in my hands, and the report showed 96% of her lungs were damaged. My husband and brother were stuck overseas. I had no one. I went to this man, hoping he would give his opinion, and look what I got."—u/tiredmummyof2

"We're not much more than sex toys and vessels for progeny to some people."—u/retro_toes
