CNN Host Crushes Pro-Trump Guest With Glaring Receipts: 'He Has Put That In Writing'

CNN host Abby Phillip on Tuesday wouldn’t tolerate one of her “NewsNight” guests claiming President Donald Trump potentially “canceling” the midterm elections was merely a baseless theory created by Democrats — and not an actual idea floated by Trump himself. Phillip was compelled to interrupt when CNN political commentator Xochitl Hinojosa argued Trump will “use every tool” to cast doubt on the results, and conservative radio host Jason Rantz claimed it was Democrats “the entire time” who said Trump will “cancel the election.” “Trump raised the issue of canceling the election,” said Phillip. “Don’t put that on Democrats.” Rantz nonetheless continued to do so, noting “Democrats said he wasn’t going to allow the election” and have “said that from the beginning.” Trump himself once famously tried to overturn an election — and has stated that “we shouldn’t even have” one in November. He has made similar comments on his Truth Social platform. “Just to be clear, the only person who has talked about canceling elections is Donald Trump,” said Phillip. “He has put that in writing. And also, and on top of that, I mean, what Xochitl is talking about is not just supposition.” She continued, “Trump has repeatedly, already — before this moment — cast doubt on the upcoming election. So it’s not just the past, it’s also the present. It’s the future. It would be, I think, disingenuous to suggest that he doesn’t have that top of mind.” While the discussion returned to its initial subject of Trump appointing home builder heir Bill Pulte as his new acting director of national intelligence, despite the man’s glaring lack of experience, Rantz had made his hole-riddled case with some rather glaring omissions. He curiously failed to explain that the Democrats he was accusing had only warned Trump might cancel the midterms because the MAGA leader himself has suggested as much. Trump has also repeatedly commented on running for a third, unconstitutional term. The president quite literally admitted last March, “I’m not joking.” Phillip reiterated just how serious the possibility is after her guest, Republican strategist Brad Todd, said he wants the upcoming election to be held “in an honest and fair way.” The “NewsNight” host replied, “I agree with you. But the president has this on his mind.” She concluded, “There’s no question about that.” By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
