A new ad in the contentious Texas Senate race features an AI-generated James Talarico, the Democratic candidate, singing a song about trans kids.

Citizens for Sanity, a pro-Trump political action committee, has purchased a small ad buy in order to air the spot, according to the Daily Caller. In the ad, the fake Talarico sings a parody version of “My Favorite Things” from the 1959 musical “The Sound of Music,” with lyrics such as “Boys in white dresses with blue satin sashes / Girls dosed with hormones til they grow mustaches.”

The ad does not appear to indicate that the video is AI-generated.

State Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is running against Talarico for Senate, has used his position to attack trans kids. Talarico, who is not trans, has expressed his support for trans kids and once said in an interview that “God is nonbinary.”

Paxton and his allies have taken to using terms like “transgender” and “gay” as slurs during the campaign.

“He goes by a few names that you all may have heard of. Some people know him as ‘Tofu Talarico,’” Paxton said during his victory speech, referring to the unsubstantiated rumor that Talarico is a vegetarian. “Some people call him ‘six-gender Jimmy.’ I’ve even heard some people call him ‘James Talafreako.’ And others refer to him simply as ‘Low-T Talarico.’”

Other prominent conservatives have joined in the hateful jabs.

When Talarico won his party’s primary last month, White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller said on X that Democrats had “made history in Texas by nominating their first transgender senate candidate.”

Fox News’ Jesse Watters suggested that Talarico is a gay vegan while criticizing the candidate, but then had to clarify that neither of those things is accurate.

Citizens for Sanity did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment. Neither did the campaigns for Talarico or Paxton.
